Blue Water Health Services (BWHS), the parent of Port Huron Hospital (PHH), an independent 501(c)3 hospital in Port Huron, MI, has signed a letter of intent to join McLaren Health Care, an integrated nonprofit system based in Flint, MI. The decision was unanimously supported by PHH’s Board of Trustees. McLaren will commit to service growth, facility and equipment improvements, employee and physician commitments, and will provide for significant local board decision-making. PHH will become McLaren’s 12th member hospital and will benefit from the system’s commitment to high-quality, accessible healthcare for the Port Huron community, Blue Water, and Thumb areas of Michigan.
The Board engaged Juniper Advisory to proactively assess their strategic options, as well as to implement a competitive process to evaluate transaction alternatives. Juniper designed and managed a marketing process that included identifying and qualifying potential suitors, drafting information materials, guiding suitors through the proposal process, conducting reverse due diligence, and negotiating the letter of intent. Juniper will continue to advise the Board through the due diligence process and negotiation of the definitive agreement.
